BOH BRAWL March 24th! BRIAN HOWARD vs SEAN GRIFFIN
This is a new format for the Back Of the House Brawl. Everyone has a chance to taste what the chefs are going to produce. Instead of secret ingredients we are letting the chefs serve their own street food for the night. What does Brian and Sean think would be great off of a food truck? Come out Saturday late night and find out. From 1-2am Chef Brian Howard of Comme Ca is taking over Rusty Pickle and Chef Sean Griffin of Prime Steak House is cooking Lola D’s Kitchen. Anyone who presents a ticket from both trucks will receive a ballot to vote on the best street food. That will determine the crowds choice but we will also have 3 judges to determine the home of the traveling trophy.
This Saturday is also special because 50% of Brian, Sean and My sales are going to a group of culinary kids at Silverado High School that won state competition and are invited to the national competition in Baltimore to battle for a culinary scholarship. The kids need to raise $7000 ASAP so we are trying to help at the Truck Stop. I mentioned “my sales”, I’ll be on Sheff’s kitchen serving my red chile pork tacos that I use to sell on my Sloppi Jo truck.
Chef Geno Bernardo of Nove @Palms donated dinner for 2 at Nove and a cooking class for 2 for a raffle for the kids. By a raffle ticket for $20 at the Truck Stop for a chance to win!!!
It’s time to mention Chef Gary FX LaMorte of Mina group. He is a big part of helping the culinary kids and works with their instructor Ann Taylor closely. Gary brought teh situation to my attention and of course I wanted to help out. He can’t make it this Saturday but he’s going to try and have a few of the kids show up to help out. This just add to what we are trying to accomplish at the Truck Stop at Tommy Rockers.
